72 tonne Chinese rail track for Ahmedabad’s ‘Kankaria Queen’ arrived

Ahmedabad’s municipal commissioner I.P.Gautam on Tuesday briefed reporters about Kankaria lake front project’s latest progress details. Major part of his briefing was on ‘Kankaria Queen’ a proposed train for amusement that would be operated on the periphery of Kankaria lake. Here are details on ‘Kankaria Queen’ and some major points from municipal commissioner’s briefing about it:
Railway Track:
Rail Track is arrived at Mumbai port from China.
Total weight of track is 72 tonnes.
Cost of track is 90 thousand pound.
Length of track is 4100 meters.
Fish plates will arrive in another consignment in September from China.
Engine:
Engine would be bought from an English firm ‘Severn and Lamb’ that has supplied such mini train engines to 12 different countries in the world so far including Disney Land.
Engine is yet to arrive in India. Interior work is going on.
Diesel hydraulic type Engine will be smooth and easy to operate.
Environment friendly Diesel engine.
Engine’s speed will be around 10 Kms per hour.
Engine plus 4 coaches will cost 3.10 lakh pounds.
Engine plus coaches will arrive to India by ship in October this year.
Name of the train ‘Kankaria Queen’ will be embossed on the engine.
Coaches:
Total 4 coaches for Kankaria Queen.
Height of each coach:7 ft 7 inch, length:25 ft 11 inches.
36 elders or 48 children passengers capacity in each coach.
Total passenger capacity of all 4 coaches together will be 144 elders or 192 children.
Facilities:
70 meter long mini railway station at Vyayam Shala to Kankaria zoo patch.
Location of platform at this patch is due to availability of flat surface there.
Garden, food courts, walk way, cycle path along the route.
Workshop to wash, repair and maintain the mini train.
Before arrival of engine and coaches in October, construction of repair yard will be completed.

I think gujarat patel is right at some extent, because now a days the whole focus of development is toward west side around SG Highway..so they should develop some big amusement park like foreign countries in that area….that is good in traffic point of view as well…

It’s a shame that now we had to import even rail track from china!!! and you guys are happy. How does a country become developed by importing, importing and importing? And all of you happy at this news, don’t you see what a huge debt (9 Trillion dollars) US itself has incurred by importing and running current account deficits.
This type of diesel engine could have been easily built by any Rajkot based oil engine makers or other engineering companies in Gujarat itself. It’s a shame we did not use our own money to help build manufacturing in our own country. Pity.

Hi Rishi,
you are right but lets worry about development. and this is not ther fist and last project. we could set so many like these projects and all those trains can be built locally. this train must be attractive because the same company also supplied it to disney land, U.S.
lets cross our fingers and hope for many more projects like this will launch all over gujarat and which all are made from local companies and also same time will have same quality of work.
i hope after this project all kind of people will visit to kakaria not just specific people.

Mr G Patel, What is the true meaning of democracy if we are going to segregate people in public places.?
It may be a shame that some of them are not patriotic and causing damage to Guj and India but being democratic we need to be open to all communities.

Hello…Mr.G Patel & Pinal (UK)…..first of all you should know that who has made Hoj-e-Qutub(which name u people has changed to Kankaria)….it was done by AHMEDSHAH BADSHAH. Ok……….and for your kind information AHMEDABAD (which name u people has now changed to Amdavad) is also made by AHMEDSHAH BADSHAH. So……don’t bother anymore……..So, we should get first right to go anywhere because its our property…..
Now….shut your mouth…..& try to go where no muslim can come………..(its HELL)…………Bye 4 now.
