It is certainly not the longest flag ever made in the world so far. But it is surely the longest flag ever made by a religious group for Ambaji temple in Gujarat. Made by Vyavvadi Pagpala Sangh in Ahmedabad the flag is 1251 ‘gaj’ or 415 ft long. In stand-up position it stands as high as more than 20 ft. For the past 14 years Vyasvadi Paglpala Sangh members have been walking to the Ambaji temple. At 15th year they decided to make the longest ever flag for Goddess Ambaji’s temple.

Flag will be taken to Ambaji temple, 198 km from Ahmedabad for Bhadarvi Poonam festival. At least 15,000 people would be contributing Rs.5 each for making of this flag which costs Rs. 45,000. Flag was on display in Ahmedabad’s Vadaj area on 31st August.

Situated near Gujarat-Rajasthan border, Ambaji is an important temple with millions of visitors annually. Ambaji is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths of Hindu religion. On the fifteenth day(Full Moon Day) of the month of Bhadrapad, more than 1.5 million devotees gather at Ambaji temple. Most of them come by walking miles of distances and having religious flags with them.

Vyasvadi Sangh has sent a letter to the Guinness Book of Records about the longest flag that they have made. Guinness book has sought a proof of length that Sangh has claimed. Matter is in process.
