Ahmedabad to host four-day Japan Festival from January 10th
Ahmedabad, 30 December, 2008
Ahmedabad’s Indo-Japan Friendship Association (IJFA) in collaboration with the Consulate General of Japan, Mumbai, will organise a four-day ‘Japan festival’ in Ahmedabad, beginning 10 January.
“For the first time, we will have an exquisite exhibition of Japanese kites, a scintillating photo exhibition, besides screening of six international award winning Japanese films,” president of IFJA, Gujarat, Mukesh Patel said.
The festival assumes significance as Japan is the international country partner for ‘Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit-2009´ (VGGIS) to be held during January 12-13.
An 18-member delegation led by Japanese ambassador Hideaki Domichi will arrive here for the summit in order to strengthen bilateral ties between Gujarat and Japan.
The festival will be inaugurated by Gujarat governor Naval Kishore Sharma, while Japan counsel general, Mumbai, Hirotsugu Hagiuda is scheduled to launch the centre for Japanese studies.
