It seems that the state of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh both have indulged into a bus battle these days.

The battle started when the government authority in Gujarat detained 6 buses of Madhyra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation(MPRTC) that were found in operation on the roads of Gujarat without necessary permit.

Reacting to this, Madhya Pradesh has detained Gujarat’s six state transport buses, though each bus has permit documents.

According to sources, MPRTC runs buses under contract system with private bus operators. The state of Gujarat issues no objection certificate to such operators under MPRTC contract. On the bases of NOC, Gujarat’s RTO department issues permit to operate Madhya Pradesh buses in Gujarat.

Last Friday, 6 buses from Madhya Pradesh were detained in Gujarat due to lack of permit. Three of them were detained in Vadodara(Badvani-Vadodara, Indore-Vadodara and Kharegaon-Vadodara) while each of another three was detained in Ahmedabad, Surat and Chhota Udepur(Alirajpur-Chhota Udepur).

Apprehending more detention, most of the operators of Madhya Pradesh have canceled their trips to Gujarat.

Reacting to Gujarat’s actions, Madhyra Pradesh too has detained 6 buses of Gujarat State Transport Corporation. These buses are said to have all necessary permits.

To sort out this interstate ‘Bus battle’, Gujarat State Transport Corporation’s officer has gone on visit to Madhya Pradesh, while Madhya Pradesh Road Transport Corporation’s higher officers are camping in Delhi.

Meanwhile, thousands of passengers on both side of the state border are facing great difficulty. Most of the passengers in this area are tribals.
