Indian Coast Guard’s North-West region headquarter will be operational on July 10 in Gujarat’s capital town, Gandhinagar. However this will be a temporary headquarter, as Coast Guard actually needs a larger infrastructure to handle its operations.
Indian Coast Guard’s Inspector General, Shri Satyaprakash Sharma today met Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi at his office in Gandhinagar and demanded 25 acre land in Gandhinagar to construct a full fledged regional headquarter here. Chief Minister Modi was positive on this proposal, according to official release by the Government of Gujarat. Presently Coast Guard has been allotted an office at seventh floor of GIIC building.
Chief Minister’s Additional Principal Secretary G.C.Murmu and Indian Coast Guard’s Commanding Officer were also present during the talk.
Gandhinagar headquarter will handle Coast Guard’s all operations in the Arabian sea off Gujarat coast. Gujarat, a bordering state with Pakistan, possesses longest sea coast in India compare to any other coastal state.
