“Gujarat PSUs should be studied by economists”
Bharuch, 22 October, 2009
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said that economists should conduct a study on how the loss making state government undertakings started making profits in the past couple of years.
“Chalking out strategies in consultation with the experts helped in the revival undertakings like Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB), Gujarat State Fertilisers Company (GSFC), Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals Limited (GACL) at a time when conditions in the stock market were not favorable. That is why it should be a matter of research for the economic experts,”he said.
The reasons behind these loss making undertakings becoming profitable was to strike at the root cause and keeping faith in those connected with this exercise, Modi said.
Meanwhile, Gujarat minister of state for Industries, Energy and Finance Saurabh Patel said there would be reservation of 1,000 hectares of land for small scale units in the chemical zone coming up at Dahej.
A total of Rs 1,11,111 lakh industrial investment will be done in the state by 2012, he said.
