Late Gujarat BJP MLA cremated amid tears

Thousands of people attended late BJP MLA Shri Vashrambhai Khorani’s cremation ceremony in his native village Lakhanka on Tuesday evening. Khorani(47) died on Tuesday afternoon from severe heart attack.

Gujarat Assembly Speaker Shri Ashok Bhatt, Education minister and district in-charge Shri Raman Vora, Minister Kiritsinh Rana and BJP spokesperson Shri I.K.Jadeja, BJP leader Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Member of parliament(Congress) Shri Kunvarjibhai Bavaliya, MLA Shri Govindbhai Patel, MLA Varshaben Doshi, BJP’s Saurashtra area media cell in charge Raju Dhruv among others were present during the cremation.

Assembly speaker Shri Ashokbhai Bhatt said, “This is the first instance when a sitting MLA is dead soon after taking oath without entering the assembly floor. This is 46th death of sitting MLA in the history of Gujarat Vidhansabha”.

Vashrambhai was elected as MLA recently on 14th September snatching Chotila seat from Congress. He entered public life in 1985 after he was elected as Sarpanch of his village Lakhanka. He contested assembly election as an independent candidate but couldn’t win. He also lost district panchayat election. In 2005 he contested taluka panchayat seat on BJP ticket and became Chotila taluka panchayat president. Lastly he won Chotila assembly by-election.

Vashrambhai is third sitting MLA of Chotila who died. Earlier sitting MLA Popatbhai Jinjariya died on 2nd May this year. Before him Shri Karmashibhai Makwana died on 10th July 1997.
