Cyclone Phyan is fading and there is no danger anymore on Gujarat coast. However strong winds and rainfall will be experienced in the state, particularly in parts of southern Gujarat in next some hours.
Indian Meteorological Department Director B P Yadav said, ” Cyclone Phyan has entered the land south of Mumbai and our warning stays as it is for that area in Konkan belt. However, Phyan has weakened and it is now limited to only Konkan area. Therefore we have devolved our warning issued earlier to Goa and Gujarat. However, one or two places in south Gujarat may experience heavy rain in next some hours. But the danger of storm does not exist anymore, so far as areas other than Konkan are concerned.”
Earlier The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a warning that a deep depression over southeast and adjoining east central Arabian sea was likely to develop into a cyclonic storm. The cyclone was likely to hit southern Gujarat and north Maharashtra between Mahua and Dahanu by early hours of November 12 according to warning issued earlier.
