Cyclone Phyan: IMD predicts very heavy rainfall in parts of Gujarat

According to Indian Mat department bulletin at 8:30 am on Wednesday, the state of Gujarat will experience light to very heavy rain in 24 hours. Following is the exact forecast in the bulletin.

North Gujarat

Moderate to rather heavy rain/thundershowers are likely to occur at most places.

South Gujarat

Moderate to rather heavy rain/thundershowers are likely to occur at most places.

Saurashtra

Moderate to rather heavy rain/thundershowers are likely to occur at many places.

Kutch

Light to moderate rain/thundershowers are likely to occur at isolated places.


Heavy rainfall warning

Heavy to very heavy rains are likely to occur at a few places with isolated extremely heavy falls over south Gujarat region, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli and heavy to very heavy rains are also likely to occur at a few places over North Gujarat region, Saurashtra, Diu during next 48 hours.

This unseasonal rain has been predicted in view of the Cyclonic Storm PHYAN – 500 km south-southwest of Surat. The system is likely to intensify further and move North-Northeastwards and cross South Gujarat and North Maharashtra coast between Alibag and Valsad by today, the 11th November 2009 late evening/night according to Mat department.
