Both BJP and Congress candidates today filed their nomination papers for the January 20 by-elections for the Chotila assembly segment in Gujarat’s Surendranagar district.
Bharat Khorani, son of late BJP MLA Vashram Khorani, filed his nomination papers for BJP, while Congress has chosen Niratben Dhoriya, sister of sitting Rajkot MP Kunvarji Bavaliya.
Chotila seat fell vacant following the death of Vashram Khorani who won the seat in the by-election held on September 10 last year.
The by-election were held on September last year following death of sitting Congress MLA Popat Jinjariya who had won the state assembly polls in December 2007.
