India’s greatest film star Amitabh Bachchan was in Ahmedabad today for special screening of his film ‘Paa’ at City Pulse multiplex in the outskirts of capital town Gandhinagar.

Bachchan arrived in Ahmedabad early on Wednesday and stayed in Taj hotel near the airport. He went to Gandhinagar to meet Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and had Gujarati dinner with him at his official residence. Amitabh presented three books to Modi including a book ‘Madhushala’ written by his late father Shree Harivansh Rai Bachchan. Modi presented a Gujarati Kutch woolen shawl and textile embroidery piece to Modi. Both Modi and Bachchan spent half an hour time together.

Modi and Bachchan then arrived at City Pulse multiplex together.

Before going to a film show at Citypulse multiplex, Modi and Bachchan briefly interacted with media persons gathered outside. Bachchan also gave his autograph to some of the fans gathered there.

“I have two requests. The first is that Modi, in fact, all citizens of Gujarat, watch my film Paa; and secondly, that the Gujarat government exempt my film from all taxes,” Amitabh said.

Stressing on the importance of the film, Amitabh said, “The movie is vital for the public. It will help them understand how to deal with children with physical disabilities.”He said that one should not pity such children.

Big B was very tactful when media caught up with him with questions like “Do you think Modi is Big B of politics?

He said, “I have not seen myself that way but whatever work he has done as Chief Minister of Gujarat, all the people know how important is his contribution to Gujarat.”

When asked to react on Amar Singh’s decision to resign from all posts of Samajwadi Party, Amitabh said that he doesn’t know about this.

Narendra Modi also announced: “When we were talking, he himself gave me a good idea that for development and promotion of tourism in Gujarat he will employ his hard work, time and experience for Gujarat.”

“I will tell my colleagues in the government that they approach Amitabhji with proper designs and I think this would surely benefit the state,” Modi added.

While Modi was sitting on one side of Bachchan on Citypulse multiplex’s reclining chair, state BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Purushottam Rupala was sitting on the other side of Mr. Bachchan. State Finance Minister Vajubhai Vala was sitting on the other side of Modi. State ministers, some Babus including new Chief Secretary AK Joti and about 60 invited guests also watched the show with Modi and Bachchan.
