Martyred Jawan cremated, leaves pregnant wife behind in Saurashtra

Body of Shahid Jawan Kachrabhai Malam was cremated with guard of honor in martyr’s native village Sangavada in Gujarat.

26-year old Kachrabhai was in Gorkha Regiment. He died in heavy snow amidst freezing minus 40 degree temperature and disturbed windy atmosphere during search duty on last post of Indian border in Leh-Ladakh sector of Jammu & Kashmir. Kachrabhai had joined Armed force in 2003.

Martyred Jawan’s body arrived in his native village at 5 pm. The villagers shouted patriotic slogans. Local MLA, Deputy Collector, Militery Jawans and Police staff was present here amidst ocean of villagers also from surrounding villages.

Kachrabhai’s wife Ratanben is 3-month pregnant. She felled in unconsciousness soon after she came to know about her husband’s death as Kacharabhai’s body arrived. Though Kachrabhai’s death occurred on 31st January, and news arrived next morning, the relatives had not informed Ratanben about her husband’s death to prevent her from shock.

Kachrabhai’s father Sarmanbhai and elder brother Kantibhai are small-time farmers active at their 6-Bigha field.

It should be mentioned that Sangavada village has population of just 1500 people. At least 11 youngsters of this village are serving the Indian Army.
