The government of Gujarat has issued a circular asking local bodies to switch off the street lights on full moon night.
The state has issued such direction to conserve the energy and also to facilitate a natural beauty of full moon night that people can enjoy.
However several civic authorities are in dilemma whether this would be a good idea or not in view of security related concerns. The street light department of civic authority in Bhavnagar has asked district police chief whether it would be proper to switch off the street lights during full moon night or not. According to sources in Bhavnagar Municipal Corporation(BMC), the decision would be taken only after district police chief’s consent on the issue.

probably a survey…to recognise where extra lights would be needed for security reasons and places where it can be avoided?

excellent idea to save energy probabley 6to 8 days of the year.people can enjoy natural beauty of moon,even people can switch off their 95 %light of their house for 15 minutes every day,so they can save bill as well the can give revenue to gujarat government,this is my personal opinion.
This is not solution actully, They have to set timers on street light after mid night alternate or more than two or three street light automatically switch off ., and again all of them start in morning hours. This system allready in thane district of maharastra
