Unidentified persons attacked BJP’s Mahuva MLA Kanubhai Kalsariya, his wife and three others on Sunday near Doliya village of Mahuva taluka.

The persons are believed to be the security guards of Nirma plant here.

Kanubhai, his wife and some local community leaders were in car when they were attacked by 40-50 unidentified persons using pipes and sticks. The attackers had covered their faces using helmets and mufflers. Kanubhai could survive the attack as his driver Ghanshyambhai bravely speedup the car.

All five have been rushed to Mahuva government hospital and are being treated, police said, adding that the matter was being investigated.

Kanubhai is in news these days for his movement against state government’s unilateral decision to allot water body land to Nirma company for proposed cement plant. Villagers are opposing government’s decision for last several weeks.
