Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat, 24 February, 2010
Railway Minister Mamta Banerjee in his budget speech said there would not be any forceful land acquisition for dedicated freight corridor project(DFC). “Negotiations would be carried out with those who don’t want to give land. Options such as elevated track and nearest link would be considered to ensure minimum acquisition. One person of land loosing family would get job in railway,” said Mamta Banerjee.
It should be mentioned that the Railway Ministry has already issued a notification for acquisition of land from hundreds of villages of various districts in Gujarat for a Rs 22,000-crore Delhi-Mumbai dedicated freight corridor project. The freight corridor has been facing trouble with land acquisition in Gujarat.
