CBI arrests Rajesh Adani, MD of Adani Enterprises

Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) has arrested Rajesh Adani, Managing Director of Adani Enterprises(earlier Adani Exports), from Ahmedabad yesterday, on charges of evasion of customs duty to the tune of Rs 80 lakh. The anti- corruption branch of CBI Goa had registered a case against him and nine customs officials.
Adani was arrested from his residence in morning at around 7.30 am. He was then taken to CBI office in Gandhinagar and also to Civil hospital in Gandhinagar. he was then taken to Mumbai.
Adani imported naptha in 2006-07 imported naptha without paying customs duty in Goa according to CBI.

Rajesh Adani is younger brother of Adani Group’s Chairman Gautam Adani. Born on 7 December, 1964 Rajesh Adani is BCom from Gujarat University. He is Managing Director in Adani Power. Gandhidham DRI had filed case against Rajesh Adani in 1997098 also. Adani had imported call on expired license showing fake dates to save duty in that case. Rajesh Adani got bail in that case. In 1980-81, Adani company used to import raw plastic material from Hungary to sell in Indian market at lower rate compare to IPCL under the name of Gujarat Export Corporation. This corporation was joint venture of Adanis and Gujarat government. Then Mumbai Custom Collector had arrested Rajesh Adani for under invoice scam. Rajsh Adani is also defaulter of state finance corporation.
