Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat, 4 March, 2010

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) has planned four new multi-storied parking on the Bus Rapid Transit System(BRTS) route at Bopal, Science City, Odhav and Naroda.

AMC has asked Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority(AUDA) to sanction space for this purpose at four places.

The proposed multi-storied parking would facilitate commuters to park their vehicle to take a connecting BRTS bus route. AMC plans to complete BRTS route in Bopal, Science City, Odhav and Naroda areas within 18 months according to AMC Commissioner Shri IP Gautam.

Nothing new. I have seen in South Korea before 15 years. S. Korea is not better than India but well organized cities & farming system. If India or Gujarat do it now, we should not surprise.

    Dear Real Bharatiya:

All your comments smacks your antipathy for Shri NaMo, a politician of rare breed in this ocean of political sharks….in fact, I hate to call Shri NaMo a politician. Politicians are more interested in self-welfare….

Such parking was available in the US since 1970s…what does this mean..Gujarat should not go for it in 2010….mind you economy decides what is needed and when….For instance, in the US, the public buses have no conductors as we have in India, but this suits the US economy which cannot afford huge costs of a conductor whereas in a labor surplus and low labor cost countries like India this is utter nonsense…

Having said this, I suggest you should join M F Hussain, and promptly apply for a citizenship of Qatar, as Hussain, you highly qualify, that is where he belonged, and I believe you too…

Very good news. I see progress happening and very happy about it… Thanks…

  6. malav Says:

This is a very nice proposal. Time has come to introduce modern infrastructure as shown in the above prototype. However, the way in which this concept is illustriated here seems that this will consume much electrical energy because this system needs a car elevator to take it from up to down. More energy-effecient parking structures are out there in construction business. For example, a very simple parking building with inclined roads will serve more better than the model shown above. If there are inclined roads on this building, cars can easily drive upto the top floor and park there without using our state’s electrical energy. Also, we will not need to maintain the elevator and other mechanical machines as shown above. Anyone please correct me or explain if i am wrong.
    thanks

  7. KENT Says:

Malav, You are right.. same kind of result can be achieved using another way of doing it.
I think inclined slopy way yo go up or down will help save lots of energy…
Many American airports have that system… trouble is in India we do not have too much space to do lot of things…. just a thought. Thanks Malav, good thinking…. I think amny people think and something good will come out…. Please contribute, not just complain…..
