Amazing! An 11 ft tulsi ‘tree’ in Narola village
Ahmedabad, DeshGujarat, 5 May, 2010

Narola village in Banskantha district on the border of Rajasthan has in it a tulsi plant (holy basil) that should in fact be called a tree because of its unbelievable height of 11 ft. Talking about the tree Deputy Forest Conservator of Banaskantha district Shri D.M.Patel said this tulsi tree is believed to be planted by Pandavas or their mother Kunti. Innumerous people gathered here during the bright half of lunar month to offer prayers.

Shri Lakhiram Lubharam Sudhu, pujari of the tree said that the said region was known as ‘Hedamba-Van’ some 5200 years back. At the time Kunta, mother of Pandavas planted here a branch of tulsi believing that the green leaves will indicate the good state of Pandavas and wilting leaves will indicate that Pandavas will live in grief.

People started worshiping the tree after when, 100 years back, Rajaramji Maharaj of Sikarpur in Rajasthan had a miraculous experience while resting near the tree and he said it to villagers. People come here for worshiping especially on every Ekadashi and Kartik Punam. The place observes more women visitors coming praying for good fortune. A specific type of cough disease affecting children is said to be cured by the leaves of this tree. The place is emerging as a pilgrim centre.
