GSDMA governing body meet:CM stresses on educating people

Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi today stressed that five emergency response centres of Gujarat should educate and sensitize people in dealing with disastrous situation and rope in them in the preparation of disaster management.
Presiding over a fruitful meet of the governing body of Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA), held at Gandhinagar today, Chief Minister said that public and private sector units should either jointly or independently own latest security instruments and keep in coordination with GSDMA in order to avoid any industrial mishap. He suggested that ‘Safety Day’ and mock drills should be organized every month to educate people. He also suggested taking up studies on climate change and other issues that are linked with disasters.
Meanwhile NDRF’s proposal of starting flood rescue training center near Shinor has been approved by the state govt.
Meet was attended by Finance Minister Shri Vajubhai Vala, Revenue Minister Smt.Anandiben Patel, Chief Secretary Shri A.K.Joti and senior secretaries of various departments. GSDMA CEO Shri A.R.Benerjee informed that GSDMA is setting up a disaster management institute near Raysan and its construction work is in progress.

Govt should also look into private professional disaster management set ups..
….and transparent, accountable set up of use of donated money in disasters….lot of people dont donate because they dont have faith that their money will reach the right people!!! a mechanism for people to be confident to donate…
