With the arrest of Adil Vali Mohammed (38) a computer graduate, Delhi Police on Monday claimed to have unearthed a “new route” of human trafficking whereby people were sent illegally to Mexico, Canada and the US through Guatemala.

“While returning from Guatemala Adil Vali Mohammed was found in possession of 31 passports apart from his own at the Delhi airport. The recovery of such a large number of passports belonging to different passengers was alarming. Adil was taken into custody and passports were seized from him,” O P Mishra, Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI Airport), said.

During questioning, Adil revealed a very organised network of carrier agents and middlemen involved in human trafficking who would charge Rs 20-30 lakh from the victims.

“A new route of human trafficking in which Indian citizens were sent to Mexico, Canada and U.S.A illegally without any visa through a safer route of Guatemala has been unearthed with his arrest,” he said, adding Guatemala has a visa on arrival facility which suited them.

It came to light that the seized passports belonged to 31 passengers who had already departed with the help of different carrier agents to Guatemala. Out of these, 29 were from Gujarat and two from Punjab.

These 31 passengers were taken to Guatemala on different dates. These passengers were received by one Ronnie at Guatemala. Further Ronnie used to arrange their illegal entry into the US through jungle or borders of Mexico or Canada.

“Thus Guatemala was used as a safe transit route by the traffickers for onward journey to US. The journey of a passenger was arranged for Rs 20-30 lakh,” Mishra said.

Agents Jayesh Desai and Manish Patel of Ahmadabad made the arrangements for their travel along with Kamal and Billa of Delhi and Tajudin and Zakir of Mumbai.

“Everybody has been assigned different roles and were paid handsome amount by the kingpin, Ronnie, of the racket,” Mishra said.

this is not a new route.. these agents are using these for many years. I me tone Gujarati Guy who is leaving illegal in USA told me his entire story. He told me that there are so many gujaratis living in jails of Gautemala and Maxico who are failed to enter in USA. Few years back, one gujarati movie was made called “Hal Bheru America”.. This movie was financed by one of the group who succeded to come USA long time back.

I am a Gujarati living in US. I saw many illegals living around me and believe me, they all found them in big big trouble SOME WAY OR ANOTHER, atleast thats what looks like from their stories, work here like a pig or donkey, so much work and little money and above all money at cost of their happiness…. I feel so poor for them……NEVER GO ANYWHERE IF YOU DON”T HAVE Legal STATUS FOR THAT COUNTRY>>>>>>>>>DON”T WASTE YOUR LIFE, YOU MAY NOT BELIEVE ME BUT THIS IS THE TRUTH SEEN FROM EYES…..

this is very old route. atleast 18-20 years old. I have met many people who have followed this route and heard their stories. Each one traveled in group of 50-60. they would walk during nights and rest during days. Some times they have to stay at one place for weeks just to wait for easing of security to move further.
One good thing is that such gujaratis speak very good spanish.
