Modi to open Tana Riri music festival in Vadnagar on 15th

Much to the excitement of classical music lovers, ‘Swarnim Tana-Riri’ music festival is going to be organized on coming 15th and 16th November at Vadnagar in Mahesana, as it is organized every year in the memory of Gujarat’s classical music duo Tana and Riri.

Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate this gala fiesta on November 15, 7-30 pm on the site of the tomb of Tana and Riri in Vadnagar.

Programs on November 15 include classical singing by Aishwarya Majmudar and Viraj Amar Bhatt. A group of artists from Saptak will play Sitar in the guidance of Manju Maheta. Vocal performance will be given by Hema Asit Desai and group. Sports and Cultural Activities Minister Shri Fakirbhai Vaghela will be the chief guest of the programs.

Programs on November 16 include group singing by artists of Navrachana Vidhyalaya of Vadodara and Aradhana academy of Ahmedabad, performances by Mauli Dave, Piyu Sarkhel and internationally acclaimed singer Shobha Mudgal, jugalbandhi by Viraj and Bijal Upadhyaya. Health Minister Shri Jaynarayan Vyas and Water Supply Minister Shri Nitin Patel will be the chief guests of the programs.

Prior to the festival, on November 11, Gujarat’s Swaradhika Dhari Panchamda take up singing 109 raga for 99 minutes and 99 seconds, creating a new world record by breaking her own record of classical singing for 82 hours. She will finish up on 1-00 pm, November 15. Chief Minister will honor her for the grand performance.

It is said that Tana and Riri, granddaughters of Narsinh Maheta, had mastered the art of classical music. Once when Tansen’s body was burning with the fiery pain on the singing of Raga Dipak, Tana and Riri removed his pain by singing Raga Malhar. It is in the remembrance of this sister duo; classical singers while signing alap, begin with nom.tom tana.riri.

MLAs, MPs and dignitaries from Mahesana will also attend the events. Secretary for Youth and Cultural Activities Shri Bhagyesh Jha and other senior government officials have cordially invited music lovers to attend the festival.
