Modi visits Krishna Iyer,attends Kailashnathan’s daughter wedding

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi visited Kerala’s Kochi town on Saturday amid tight security by the local police and the Special Protection Group.

Modi arrived at the Naval airport at INS Garuda, Southern Naval Command, by a special flight at 7.10 p.m. on Saturday where he was received by State BJP President, General Secretary, Mahila Morcha state President and other BJP leaders. Also present were Commodore VK Garg, Commanding Officer of INS Garuda.

Modi paid visit to Justice V R Krishna Iyer’s place.

Modi accompanied by State BJP President PS Sreedharan Pillai, held 15 minutes discussion with Iyer. Later, Justice Iyer told reporters: “Modi expressed his wish to meet me, which I accepted. The visit was purely a courtesy call as wished by Narendra Modi. There was no private discussion. I told him there are no secrets. He exchanged pleasantries with me. He said he wished to meet me since I am 9596 years old. I congratulated Modi for his efforts in making Gujarat a liquorfree state,” Iyer said.

“Modi said that in Gujarat, there was progress in the agriculture sector along with industrial development. Modi said he was planning to set up a Mahatma Mandir in Gujarat and erect the tallest statue of Sardar Patel. I appreciated him for his effort in this regard,” Justice Iyer added.

After meeting Iyer,Narendra Modi proceeded to Hotel Taj Malabar where he stays.

On Sunday morning Modi asked about health of Gujarat MP and central minister Dinsha Patel who is admitted in hospital in Kochi. Djnsha was hospitalised after he complained of breathlessness. He was in the city to attend a state-level workshop on micro-enterprises and cluster development.

Modi then visited Thrissur in a helicopter to attend a marriage function of his Principal Secretary K.Kailashnathan’s daughter. Kailashnathan is Modi’s closest bureaucrat. In almost every important meeting with guests, Kailashnathan remains present with Modi.

Modi will return to Gujarat today evening. Thus his two-day visit to South India that started with Chennai in Tamil Nadu will end.
