Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today morning flagged off the international half marathon in Vadodara.

The event consists presence of more than 90 international marathon runners. About 34000 people participated in the event on three routes; 5 km, 15 km and 21 km. Play back singer Kailash Kher is going to perform for the event today evening. The organizers are offering in-total Rs. 25 lakh worth of prizes for the winners.

The Chief Minister flagged off the event at 7.00 in the morning on Vaccin institute ground. He first flagged off 21-km route at 7.10 am. Subsequently he flagged off runners in 10 different catagories at 10 minutes interval.

All routes for runners were declared no-parking zone and heavy vehicles were banned. One lane was kept committed to runners. This means all traffic was diverted to another lane.

Energy drink, drinking water, medical services were offered on more than 9 points on the route. On Vaccine ground, medical facility and ambulance were kept stand by. More than 750 youths guided the runners on the route.

4 IPS officers, 8 DySP, 30 PI, 76 PSI, and 800 constables were involved in security of the event. 3 DySP, 7 PI, 28 PSI, 307 constables were called from out of the city for this event.

All 34,000 participants participated with RFID tag. For 21 km run, 3700 people participated, about 3000 participants ran for 15-km, and 25000 ran for five km.
