Powered by Gujarat High Court order, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has resumed its sealing drive on Ahmedabad’s once-upon-a-time shopping paradise Chiman Girdhar road(C.G.Road). In last two days the AMC has sealed five buildings. On Thursday, about 84 shops/godowns/offices were sealed. In last fortnight eight buildings have been sealed. In last four months 12 buildings have been sealed.

But this is not the end of the story. AMC has identified 55 complexes on CG road that are violating fire safety norms and encroached on parking space. While fire safety norms can be followed spending some money, the parking space is somewhat tricky problem which is not easy to solve.

As if 21st century emergence of Satellite, Drive-In,S.G Road and other competing area was not enough responsible for decline of 1990s-hot-favorite CG Road, this sealing drive is all set to virtually kill all its charm left.
