Madhusudan Mistry becomes General Secretary of India’s ruling party

Former MP of Sabarkantha and Shankarsinh Vaghela supporter Shri Madhusudan Mistry has been appointed General Secretary of India’s ruling Congress party.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Friday constituted a new Congress Working Committee, the party’s top policy making body, in which Madhusudan Mistry was the highest gainer so far as Gujarati politicians are concerned. Madhusudan Mistry will be in-charge of party’s Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep units. Mistry had lost last Lok Sabha election of 2009.

While Ahmed Patel(Rajya Sabha MP from Bharuch, Gujarat) retains his powerful post of the Political Secretary of Congress President Sonia Gandhi, the other names that figure in the newly announced central body of the party include Rajyasabha MP(from Gujarat) and Shankarsinh Vaghela supporter Shri Pravin Rashtrapal, Ahmedabad based pure Congress group leaders Dipak Babaria, Irshad Mirza and north Gujarat’s Sagar Rayka. While Irshad Mirza, Rashtrapal and Sagar Rayka are made Secretaries, Babaria is new Special Secretary of the ruling party. Babaria had lost last Lok Sabha election in Ahmedabad.

In another Gujarat related announcement, former spokesperson Mohan Prakash has been given charge of Gujarat along with other key states like Maharashtra and Jammu and Kashmir. In Gujarat’s case, Shri Mohan Prakash replaces Shri.B.K.Hariprasad. Mohan Prakash will supervise and coordinate party affairs of Gujarat from Delhi.

Former spokesperson Mohan Prakash has been given charge of the key states of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir as party Prabhari. Ashok Tanvar and Abdul Ansari are Sahaprabhari(co-in-charge) of Gujarat Congress.

The party is yet not declare its new media committee. It is almost sure that Gujarat opposition leader Shaktisinh Gohil will be selected for the post of Spokerperson, or somewhere in media committee in near future. Gohil may also debut in national politics via Rajya Sabha route in future.
