Ahmedabad, 13 August, 2011

-The city of Ahmedabad has not full size statue of one of its greatest sons Dr. Vikram Sarabhai. On his 92nd birth anniversary, ISRO Chairman Dr. K. Radhakrishnan unveiled his statue at the Space Application Centre(SAC), ISRO, Ahmedabad campus. The statue has been created by Padmashree awardee Kantibhai Patel(89).

-MahaGujarat Janata Party leader Gordhan Zadaphia’s father Pragjibhai Patel died on Feiday. He was 81. His last rites are being observed today at 9.30 am in Bapunagar, Ahmedabad.

-Gujarat has received nearly 50% average rain of the season.

-Shri Chandrashekhar Vijayji Maharaj Saheb’s Gunanuvad sabha (remembering his works and life in public) will be held at Gujarat University exhibition hall in presence of hundreds of Jains and non-Jains in Ahmedabad on Sunday morning.

-ONGC has discovered three oil wells near Kayavarohan in Vadodara district.

-Rajkot’s Dulhan party plot(near Nyari dam) will host Tomatina festival on Janmashtami with DJ music and dance. The event has been organized by a private event organizer. It is expected to involve about 1,000 persons.

-Multiplexes and theaters screening Amitabh Bachchan starrer film Aarkshan are provided police security. However on the first day of release, there was none interested to protest against the film anywhere in Gujarat.

-Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has planned Bopal ring road flyover, IIM flyover, Ranip-Sabarmati flyover, Taj hotel river bridge and Indira colony flyover.

-Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi is celebrating Raksha Bandhan with Gujarat BJP women cell workers led by senior minister Anandiben Patel. Modi’s hand goes full with tied Rakhis. Long queue of women standing to tie Modi a rakhi can be witnessed every Rakshabandhan morning. It starts with Modi’s real sister followed by Anandiben, and then others.
