Bhavnagar becomes the only city in Gujarat to have a double-decker bus service

With two double-decker buses already arrived in the city, Bhavnagar is now the only city in Gujarat to have a double-decker bus.
Local bus service operator VITCOS(Valbhipur Tranport Co-operative Society) has purchased two double-decker buses at a cost of total Rs 74 lakh for city transport service. Each bus has a capacity to accommodate 75 passengers. Each bus will have one driver and two conductors. Double-decker buses will be operated in Bharatnagar and Kaliyabid routes. Third double-decker bus is expected to arrive in two weeks.
Both buses are put on road today evening in Bhavnagar in presence of city Mayor in a function organized at Gangajaliya talav.
VITCOS operates local bus service in Bhavnagar, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Anand, Vadodara, Gandhinagar and Rajkot.
Till mid 1980s a double-decker bus service was functional in Ahmedabad, however later all double-decker buses were retired.
After almost two decades, Bhavnagar has become the only city to have a double-decker bus service.
