Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today remembered late Morarji Desai as an able Prime Minister during the Janata Party rule for containing inflation.
Paying his floral tribute to Mr. Desai on his birth anniversary today in front of his oil portrait in the State Assembly premises here, he said that Mr. Desai adopted the Gandhian values in his public life and practised Gandhian ideals in politics.
Mr. Modi said that Mr. Desai would also be remembered was an illustrious son of the soil of Gujarat and a driving force behind India’s development thirty years ago.
Mr. Modi rated Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee as the other Prime Minister who has successfully tackled inflation during his time. On this count, he said that the present government at the Centre has miserably failed, embroiled as it is in one controversy after another.
Meanwhile the central leader of BJP Shri Lalkrishna Advani paid tribute to Shri Morarjibhai Desai at his native place in Valsad.
Shri Desai’s family had invited Shri Advaniji to participate in a function held to mark Shri Desai’s birth anniversary.
