Arun Jaitley to contest Rajya Sabha poll from Gujarat

The Central Election Committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party met on Friday under the Presidentship of Shri Nitin Gadkari.
Meeting was attended by Shri L.K. Advani, Chairman, BJP Parliamentary Party, Smt. Sushma Swaraj, Leader of Opposition (Lok Sabha), Shri Arun Jaitley, Leader of Opposition (Rajya Sabha) and all the members of the Central Election Committee of the BJP.
The committee decided the following names for the ensuing Biennial Elections to the Council of States (Rajya Sabha).
Gujarat: Shri Arun Jaitley
Uttar Pradesh: Shri Vinay Katiyar
Bihar: Shri Ravishankar Prasad and Shri Dharmendra Pradhan
Madhya Pradesh: Shri Thawarchand Gehlot, smt Najma Heptullah, Shri Kaptan Singh Solanki and Shri Faggan Singh Kulaste
Himachal Pradesh: Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda
Rajasthan: Shri Bhupindra Yadav
Maharashtra: Shri Ajay Sancheti
Chhattisgarh: Dr. Bhushan Lal Jhagde
As per the list announced, only one candidate in Gujarat is finalized yet. It means that there’s some discussion going on , on other two names that are already finalized and sent to Delhi by party’s parliamentary board in Gujarat. If there was no question on other two names, they could be declared in this list. But it seems the names are challenged in Delhi. For now, let’s wait for second and final list.
