Non-veg, eggs banned in Palitana, Congress members oppose

BJP ruled Palitana Municipality of Bhavnagar district on Friday passed a motion proposing ban on selling of non-veg and eggs in the limit of the pilgrim town of Palitana.
The motion was passed in the general meeting headed by President of Municipality Shri Pravinbhai Gadhvi with members of BJP favoring it.
Opposition Congress party members opposed the motion.
If someone wants to oppose the decision, he/she is free to do so in prescribed time limit of 30 days. After this period, the decision will be implemented strictly.
Palitana is important pilgrim place of Jain community.
Jain monk Maitriprabhasagar was on fast last month demanding Haridwar style law to prevent non-veg and eggs in this pilgrim town. When he threatened self immolation, he was visited by district administration and was assured that his demand would be satisfied.
