Reconstructed Chhataradi of Gujarat’s former ruler Jayshikhari Chavda was dedicated on Friday at Patan district’s Panchasar village in presence of Kshatriya leaders from north Gujarat and Ahmedabad.
In July 2010 some unidentified persons demolished Jayshikhari’s Chhatardi in dark hours of night, and dug the ground beneath it in an attempt to find treasure lying there as per their belief. In the morning the villagers saw a ruined structure of chhatardi with writing over it claiming that treasure was found out.
Chhatardi is an umbrella style construction that takes place over the ground where a ruler is cremated.
Panchasar was first capital of Gujarat established by then ruler Jayshikhari Chavda.
Jayshikhar’s son Vanraj Chavda found Patan as then Gurjar desh’s new capital.
