Modi dedicates Rs 264 cr projects in Surat including a new river bridge

Surat, 27 May 2012
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today dedicated three development projects worth Rs 264 crore in Surat. This included Kapodra-Utran river bridge over Tapi, Rs 50 crore water distribution scheme for Katargam zone and Rs 132 crore drainage project.
Shri Modi said that during the period of present government, one would find development project in every 25 km radius area. He pointed out that while so many development works are going on, the govt has taken care that its burden should not come over common people.
Shri Modi mentioned Surat-Navsari twin city project in his speeh. He said 10 years back Gujarat was facing 6500 crore revenue deficit, but today the state is revenue surplus, thanks to its economic management that has not affected development projects.
Narrow tent, too many people invite disturbance in inaugural function
It was a narrow tent, and overwhelming number of people sitting inside the tent were attempting to see a glimpse of Narendra Modi. So what was the result? Some people stood up, some others started throwing chairs and some other people were not attentive, but shouting and speaking loudly. And this all happened in presence of the Chief Minister.

Could someone explain why the breath span (cross section) of bridge dramatically narrows at both ends. From the picture presented, it seems pedestrian pavement portion is suddenly eliminated at both ends thereby reducing the width of the bridge just to the width of vehicular traffic lanes of the bridge.
Is this a feature by design? And if so, can someone please explain ???
there is no enough width of road at riverbank that match with bridge width so they narrowed down it..
