Gujarat bandh is overall peaceful and succesful

Bharat bandh against price hike in petrol is over all successful and peaceful in Gujarat, barring three-four minor incidents of confrontation in Vadodara and Rajkot between bandh supporters bank officer/traders.
-Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) has halted operation of new buses, but has continued to run the old buses.
-In Rajkot, the BJP workers rushed to the State Bank and damaged the computers and glass doors. A manager complained that he was beaten by BJP workers. CCTV has recorded the incident according to bank official.
-In Vadodara, BJP ward president of ward no 15 tried to force the traders to shut their business which resulted into minor clash. Locals damaged front window of BJP ward president’s WagonR car.
-Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) Janmagar buses are not operating today, apprehending damage to glass windows.
-In Vadodara’s Machhipith area, BJP workers were beaten by locals while attempting force shut down.A Police complaint has been filed in this regard.
Gujarat BJP thanks people of Gujarat
The Gujarat BJP in its statement issued here today thanked the people of Gujarat for their total support to the strike against petrol price hike.
Modhwadia opposes violence
Gujarat Congress has criticized the use of violence by Gujarat BJP during the strike. Modhwadia in his blog said, “Tell me Mr. Modi how does motorcycle rallies, burning of tyres, destroying public property and manhandling traders justify the protest against fuel price hike? My advice to BJP-led Gujarat government would be to stop harassing people by using destructive measures and take constructive steps for easing the crisis situation.”
