Municipality by-poll: BJP wins nine, Congress three seats

The results of the recent by-elections of eleven Municipality seats in Gujarat are out.
Of 11 seats that went to poll, BJP has secured victory on 8 seats, while Congress has won three seats.
BJP was declared victorious on one seat of Kodinar municipality unopposed.
Thus out of total 12 seats, BJP won nine while Congress won three seats.
The by-polls were held on 17th of June in Dholka, Dhrol, Upleta, Jasdan(four seats), Gondal, Chorwad, Devgadhbaria and Karamsad. Average voting registered was 54%.
Reacting to today’s results, Gujarat BJP in a statement said that BJP has snatched three seats out of total four from Congress in Jasdan Municipality which is hometown of Congress leader Kunvarji Bavalia. In Gondal Municipality, Congress has been pushed to number three. Congress has lost fifty per cent seats over all. Politics of negativity and lies has been exposed by the people, the statement said.
In another development, Congress has won union territory Diu’s Municipality election with clear majority.
