At Jagannath mandir, Modi wishes good monsoon this year(Aarti video and photos)

On the eve of 135th Rath Yatra in Ahmedabad, Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi today visited Jamalpur based Shri Jagannath Mandir and participated in evening aarti. Shri Modi was accompanied by Rajya Sabha MP Shri Parimal Nathwani, state minister Shri Nitin Patel, city Mayor Asit Vora and Managing Trustee of mandir.
Speaking to media persons outside mandir, Shri Modi wished for good monsoon this year. He also sought blessings of Lord Jagannath for the state of Gujarat for more progress and welfare of poor people. Shri Modi wished good of poor people, farmers and villages.
Talking about the context of the event, he said that the chariot procession of Lord Jagannath is 135 year old tradition here and is taken out in 120 other cities and towns of the state as well, with tens of thousands of devotees in attendance, on the second bright lunar day in the month Asadhi Bij as per Indian calendars.
Mr. Modi said that Lord Jagannath is the Lord of the poor and his prayer manifest increased business in whichever avocation one is. He recalled that Ahmedabad was earlier known for ‘daridra narayan’, meaning mills workers, labourers and the poor a hundred years ago. It was because of His blessings that the city is now humming with progress and prosperity.
