Narendra Modi inaugurates Rs 1100 crore expansion of Indian Steel Corporation plant at Bhimasar

Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi today inaugurated second phase of Indian Steel Corporation’s Steel plant at Bhimasar near Anjar in Kutch district. ISC steel plant is joint venture of Ruchi Grup and Mitsui group. Phase – 2 expansion has witnessed investment of Rs 1100 crore.
“Kutch alone has emerged as steel hub of India. You compare Kutch of 2001 with Kutch in 2012 and you will realize what’s called development,” Shri Modi said speaking at the inaugural function.
Shri Modi talked about importance of partnership between Japan and Gujarat .
Indian Steel Corporation’s Shri Kailash Sahara said that steel industry is one of the two basic industries in India.
ISC’s Managing Director Makato Suzuki recalled that in 2004 he had submitted a proposal before Narendra Modi government and today when ISC has achieved 6 lakh matric tone production capacity, the Chief Minister is here to dedicate it.
Indore MP Sumitra Mahajan, ISC’s MD Umesh Sahara, Executive Officer Arjun Jalani, Japanese partners Kuruhata, Taniguchi, Fujita, Hara, Mizutani and others graced the function.
The Chief Minister planted a tree in ISC campus and paid visit to different facilities at the plant.
It should be mentioned here that Japan’s Mitsui company and India’s Ruchi group industries set up ISC steel plant in Bhimasar at an investment of Rs 241 crore. During Chief Minister’s Japan visit in March 2007, further expansion with an investment of Rs 884 crore was proposed before him. In connection to this ISC had signed MoU in Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2009.
