Bruhad Gujarat Sanskrut Parishad to organize Sanskrit competitions

Shree Bruhad Gujarat Sanskrut Parishad will organize various competitions in July and August to promote Sanskrit language and Indian culture.
An elocution competition for students of standard 9th to 12th is scheduled on 28th July, 2012. A contestant will require to speak for 4 minutes in Sanskrit, Gujarati, Hindi or English on the topic “Corruption is a virtue”.
A competition for recitation Sanskrit verses and Vedas on 29th July. For recitation of Sanskrit verses the eligibility is for students from standard 5th to 8th who will require to recite eight verses minimum. Competition for recitation of verses from Vedas is exclusively for students of Sanskrit Pathshalas studying upto Madhyama Examination (Intermediate). Both these competitions will focus on melodious recitation, clear pronunciations and singing skills of the contestants.
Two more competitions for Sanskrit Pathshalas will be held on 18th and 19th August. Shri Krishnashankar Shastri Sanksrit Drama Trophy will be held on 18th and Justice S D Dave Sanskrit Garba Competition will be held on 19th August.
While there is an entry fee of Rs 100 each for these two competitions, there is a provision to give an incentive of Rs 1000 each to the participating organizations. Not only that, the Parishad will lend books of Sanskrit dramas and songs etc. to the contestants, if required.
The Parishad will present several prizes to the winners of all these different competitions; the particulars of which have been circulated to the large number of schools and Sanskrit pathshalas of the State.
