Narendra Modi, PA Sangma’s Ahmedabad speeches on Subhas Chandra Bose(Video)
Ahmedabad, 6 July 2012
Presidential candidate and north east leader PA Sangma today while speaking at a programme in Ahmedabad said that Government of India should come out with some conclusions on where, when an how Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose died. Sangma also expressed unhappiness over absence of national memorial in Delhi in memory of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
“Having been working for quite some times, in this Netaji trust, I am sorry to say for two things. Inspite of many inquiry commissions we today have not been able to conclusively come to a conclusion as to where, when and how Netaji died. We have not been able to do it. I want to ask the Government of India to come out with some conclusions. Not to keep history hanging like this. That’s not speak good of our country, of our history,” Sangma said.
“Second point I am very unhappy is that there’s no national memorial in the capital of India in memory of Netaji. We have many memorials built for many leaders, why not for Subhas Chandra Bose? Why not? I have myself gone through many ministers, we have approached the Prime Minister. They are not able to even provide a small piece of land where a memorial can be built in memory of Netaji. We are grateful to CM of Delhi who ultimately gave us an assurance that she would be able to give somewhere in Dwarka area a small plot of six acre. We are waiting for that. And we want to build a very very good memorial where you can also have a national research institute on south east Asian studies. And that time when it comes, we would require your participation, your generous contribution from Gujarat,” he added.
Sangma said Subhas babu was the greatest leader India ever produced. “I am follower and admirer of Bose right from my childhood,” he added.
Sangma expressed gratitude for Gujarat Chief Minister who was behind the function held in memory of Subhas babu in ahmedabad today.
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said that the Congress has conveniently forgotten Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose but Gujarat will always remember him for bringing about the turning point in Indian politics by becoming Congress President at Haripura Session from the soil of Gujarat in 1938.
Speaking at a function to mark the foundation day of Indian National Army (INA) under the aegis of Azad Hind Fauz Trust in presence of Mr. P.A. Sangma, Mr. Modi said the present government at the Centre might forget illustrious sons of the soil like Sardar Patel and Netaji, but Gujarat would not.
He said that Gujarat’s relation with Netaji is old. About 100 men and women, including M.R. Vyas, joined INA. In reverence to the great leader’s clarion call for ‘Delhi Chalo’ and ‘Tum Mujhe Khoon Do, Mein Tumhe Azadi Dunga’, Gujarat’s e-Gram Vishwa Gram Yojna was also launched from Haripura near Surat on this historic day in 2009 with a call for ‘Tum Mujhe Saath Do, Mein Tumhe Vikas Dunga’.
Mr. Modi said that Netaji had a unique personality. He had shown his organizational skill and leadership qualities in India’s freedom struggle through armed revolution from foreign land and had sacrificed his life in the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi.
Referring to Dr Manmohan Singh’s desperate attempt for Economic Reforms since the last 24 hours after the resignation of former Finance Minister, Mr. Modi questioned the wisdom of Prime Minister for his failure for reforms all these years.
