Gram Panchayats given power to spend Rs 5 lakh without tender

The Gujarat government today took a decision to give power to 13,996 gram panchayats of the state to spend Rs 5 lakh for local development works including the works of irrigation, health etc without tender. The existing limit at present is Rs 2 lakh. The decision to raise the limit has been taken by state cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Narendra Modi today to make the development process speedier.
