A 47-member business delegation from Thailand led by their Ambassador Mr. Pisan Manawapat today called on Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Narendra Modi at Gandhinagar to strengthen economic and cultural relations between the two regions.
The delegation was overwhelmed by the warm welcome and response accorded to them in the state. Mr. Manawapat said there is a huge scope for increasing partnership between the two on a large scale.
It is by far the biggest delegation of industrialists and businessmen from Thailand to India. It reflects Gujarat’s rising image under the leadership of Mr. Modi.
They discussed the possibility of starting a direct flight between Ahmedabad and Bangkok, developing places of tourist interest and festivals like Rann Utsav in Kutch, building infrastructure in and around GIFT and port cities along Gujarat’s coastline, building houses with prefab technology for urban development, setting up cattle feed and poultry farming in the state.
The Chief Minister accepted Thailand’s wish to set up a stall depicting mini Thailand at the Theme Pavilion during the next edition of Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors’ Summit (VGGIS) in 2013. He expressed the desire to hold an international competition among heritage pavilions during the event.
Those present on the occasion included Principal Industries Secretary Maheshwar Sahu, Gujarat Infrastructure Development Board Managing Director A. K. Sharma and Industries Commissioner Kamal Dayani.
