AMC gears up for Reliance Sabarmati Marathon in Ahmedabad


Ahmedabad, 31 December 2012

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC) organizes Sabarmati Marathon event since 2010. The next edition of Reliance Sabarmati Martahon will be held on 6 January 2013 in four categories:

-Full marathon 42 km
-Half marathon 21 km
-Dream run 7 km
-Run for physically challenged

The online registration facility for the Marathon has been opened on www.Sabarmatimarathon.net . One can also register self for the event at Law Garden, Relief Road, Memco, Rambag, Rakhial, Usmanpura and Bodakdev civic centres of AMC till 1 January 2013.

Full marathon

Vallabh sadan – Juna vadaj – Gandhi ashram – RBI colony – Usmanpura, Underbridge – Vijay char rasta – Helmet circle bridge – Drive in road – Sal hospital – Sataddhar cross roads – Sola railway bridge – Science city – Shilaj – SP ring road highway – Vallabh sadan (42.195 km)

Half marathon

Vallabh sadan – Juna vadaj – Gandhi ashram – Usmanpura underbridge – Vijay cross roads – Helmet circle bridge – Manavmandir – Vallabhsadan (21.097 km)

Dream run

Vallabh sadan – Mithakhali circle – Navrangpura – Swastic cross toad – CG road – Parimal garden – Rasala park – Law garden – Mayor bungalow – Mithakhali circle – Vallabh sadan (6 km)

The event will be kicked off by Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi at 6.00 am on 6 January, 2013.

DJ music will be presented at Vallabh Sadan. Also the music and cultural events will be held at five different places on route. A special theme song for marathon run will be released.

The students of Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University will offer their services as volunteers.

The first winner (each man and woman) will get Rs 6 lakh prize in international category of full marathon.

In national category the first winner(each man and woman) will get Rs 1.25 lakh prize.

Reliance Industries Limited is title sponsor of the event while Cadila pharma, Zydus Cadila, ICICI, ONGC, SBI, B Safal, H Safal, Ganesh Housing and others have also offered their services.

Various NGOs are going to participate in the event.

Till 31st of December 2012, total 233 persons have registered for full marathon, 983 for half marathon, 9622 for dream run while 76 people have registered for participation in blind/wheel chair run.
