Gandhinagar, 11 January 2013
Speaking at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2013′s inaugural function, Lowell Paddock, CEO of General Motors India Private Limited said his company’s Gujarat experience has been extremely good. Poddock in his short speech said, Gujarat’s infrastructure, power and labour support are three reasons that contribute to GM’s growth story.
“Number one is infrastructure. When we first came here it took us nearly four hours to get from Baroda to our plant in Halol. That trip has been reduced to something on the order of 30 minutes. So you can imagine for us and for the others doing business in this area, the amount of efficiency that it brings to us, and the advantages that it brings to us in terms of reducing our transit time,” Paddock said.
“We have also enjoyed the benefits of uninterrupted power which is something that very few states in the country can claim. Again imagine what that does for us as a manufacturer in terms of having the dependability on production round the clock, whenever we need it,” he added.
“I would also like to compliment the government for its tremendous support for our labour force, and our labour activities, certainly among the most progressive in the entire country,” he further said.
