More than one lakh autorickshaws are on a three-day strike starting from Thursday midnight, demanding a hike in the minimum fare so as to match the fresh hike of Rs 7.15 per Kg in CNG prices.

As many as ten different associations of Rickshaw drivers have joined the strike.

The state government, as per its set formula of revision of autorickshaw fares today increased the minimum fare from Rs 11 to Rs 12 and also added 50 paise per km to the fare. However rickshaw drivers have refused to accept this and are continuing their strike.

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is plying more buses on roads to help commuters.
