Next one year development of Ahmedabad Janmarg BRTS project


Ahmedabad, 21 January 2013

Guruprasad Mohapatra, Commissioner of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) today presented AMC’s budget draft of year 2013-14 to a Standing Committee. In his draft proposal, the Commissioner has proposed the following works in connection with the Ahmedabad Janmarg Limited BRTS project. Following are the details of the works proposed by the Commissioner for the year 2013-14:

– Works covering an 89 km corridor at a cost of around Rs 981.44 crores have been planned

– 61 km works have been completed by December 2012

– By March 2013 – ISKCON to Ambli, Ellis bridge to Kalupur, and the Nehrunagar to LD Engineering College route will be completed.

– In the next one year, following routes are to be completed: LD Engineering to Ellis bridge, Visat to Sardar Patel ring road, Kalupur to Delhi darwaja, Kalupur to Naroda, Shah Alam to Ellis bridge

– A 40 km Phase-3 corridor with 80 new bus shelters is planned

– Plans for a concrete road to be laid in the BRTS corridor and an asphalt road in the mix traffic lane have also been divulged for the Jashodanagar-Hathijan ring road, Naroda-Muktidham ring road, Chandkheda-ring road, Akhbarnagar-Gota, Sola flyover-Science city, Shivranjani-Sarkhej APMC market, and Vadaj-APMC market (Ashram road) corridors

Proposed expenditures

BRTS – Janmarg Rs 120 crore (JnNURM)
BRTS – buses Rs 110 crore (JnNURM) 224 high quality buses to be purchased
Ahmedabad Janmarg Limited (AJL) – Rs 12 crore
Urban Transport Fund (AJL) – Rs 3 crore

A new Ahmedabad Janmarg Limited (AJL) Bhavan to be constructed at Sanskar kendra, Paldi. Initial budget allocated is Rs 1 crore.
