Modi magic at SRCC

By our correspondent, Ahmedabad, 6 February 2013

It was an important day for Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. He was in focus in entire national television and online media. The occasion was a concluding session of a business conclave in Delhi University’s second oldest college SRCC(established in 1926). Amid speculations on Modi’s national role, the event was considered so important, that at 5.00 pm India’s almost all main news channels were airing his speech event live. The social media too was full of activity. Shri Modi’s SRCC event figured among Twitter’s top five worldwide trends.

During his speech in Hindi, Shri Modi talked about his achievements in Gujarat. He showed confidence that India can hope for better future, and things can be done within the constraint of present system. On two occasions he sought audience’s permit to speak for some more time, and his wish was granted by the students with loud cheer in support.

The 2000 seat capacity stadium of SRCC was jam packed in advance, and there was no seat vacant. Mr. Modi was welcomed to stage with standing ovation. After finishing his speech Shri Modi took a round of the stadium. Some students were busy capturing him in their mobiles, many of them were girls. Some other students tried to shake hand with Mr. Modi and they were successful. One of the students sought an autograph of Mr. Modi.

While on social media, people were full of praise for Mr. Modi’s speech, on TV media, Headlines Today interviewed some of the students who attended Mr. Modi’s speech event. The students and even faculty were of the opinion that Mr. Modi should become the Prime Minister. They also talked what particular part of Mr. Modi’s speech the liked. These interviews can be seen on this link.

And then there’s a blog post written by a female student on today’s event at SRCC. The blog post has been published at NDTV website, and it can be accessed here. This girl Radhika Gulati who attended the event says, “Today we stayed back in college for over four hours to listen to him, and he did not disappoint…..Through his speech today I also felt that he is very dedicated to India’s welfare. He mentioned how Gujarat’s progress meant the country’s progress. I hadn’t followed his work too much before today, but after this I will keep track of Gujarat and his work. I really believe he will one day make for a great Prime Minister.”

And why to miss this IANS(agency) reporting on what 19-year-old students who attended the function said. Access the article here.

Today’s function further lifted Modi’s stature, this time among the most important ‘urban youth category,’ through not only his physical presence, but also through live telecast on TV and online media.

Modi’s speech had nothing negative, the speech projected him as a leader whom you can rely, a leader who is experienced and has shown results, a leader who brings hope, a leader committed to development, betterment and progress, a leader who is good orator without piece of paper in hand, a leader who is patriotic and has nation and only nation in his heart.

Such positivity, such feel good appeal, such ability to keep hopes alive is unmatched.
