Spontaneous garba like this happens often at service camp

To have darshan of Lord Dwarkadheesh, thousands of devotees (padyatris) are walking towards Dwarka town this week. And there’s one place where they halt for sure. It is a ‘service camp’ near Reliance Greens.

As part of its corporate social responsibility, Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has started a ‘service camp’ to serve nearly one lakh padyatris passing through the road which is located next to the Jamnagar refinery complex.

The camp, inaugurated by Dhanraj Nathwani, Sr Vice President at Reliance Industries has been set up with detail planning. In fact the management of this camp can be a text book example for others who organize such camps for pad yatris of Ambaji, Dakor etc.

Bhakti songs of Lord Dwarkadheesh are continuously played in this service camp. Spontaneously, Garba too happens here often. The main tent has night-halt capacity to accommodate 1,000 persons at one go. The planing is in such a detail that mobile charging points have also been set up. Separate toilets are set up for gents and ladies. Medical services are provided on round-the-clock basis with a team of doctors and a fully equipped medical van. More than 25,000 padyatris have been offered medical attention.

Thousands of food packets have been distributed among the padyatries. Each pack includes two pieces of kachori, chedvo, pendo, a packet of biscuit and butter milk in tetra pack. More than 5,000 kg watermelon are offered to padyatris.

One eye-catching initiative is distribution of radium stickers. As many as 6,200 radium stickers are glued on the backside of luggage of padyatris for their safety on road during the dark hours. (Report filed on 24th March)
