How Narendra Modi took a dig at Rahul Gandhi in Bangalore speech

Banglore, 28 April 2013

Congress party and Rahul Gandhi(without mention of his name) were on target of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today while delivering speech at BJP campaign rally in Bangalore.

In CII function in recent past, Rahul had said that one person can not change the things. Modi today reacted to his statement and said perhaps for Rahul this could be true, but whatever we have read in history suggest that one person can change the things. There was Jawaharlal Nehru who was given Kashmir issue and Sardar Patel who was given rest of India to deal with unification of native states. One person in Kashmir couldn’t do and one person who dealt with rest of India could do. This nation had to import grain from abroad during the leadership of one person who failed to address the issue. And then we had Lal Bahadur Shastri – one person who solved the problem and made nation self sufficient.

Modi described Rahul Gandhi as a person born with golden spoon. Rahul had said in his Jaipur speech that his mother visited him in the night and told that power is poison. Modi took a dig at Rahul and said “in our tradition, a son would follow his mother’s advise, but look at here. A son whose mother told him power is poison nowadays visits Karnataka to seek power for his party.

Modi attacked Rahul Gandhi in reference to Rahul’s Jaipur speech, without taking his name.

He said, in Jaipur convention they had decided that those who lost elections with gap of more than 15,000 votes will not be given ticket. What happened in Karnataka? They said Congress would not give ticket to criminals. They have not followed this in Karnataka. In Jaipur they said that new generation would be given the leadership of this nation without dynasty. In Karnataka son, brother, son-in-law have got tickets. They say something and do something else. They are not worth believing.

Modi criticized Rahul without naming him for his remarks such as beehive for nation, and potato for Karnataka. Modi termed this as insult.

Reacting to Rahul’s charge about corruption in Karnataka, Modi said that a leader born with golden spoon should assign task of writing down the figure involved in 2G spectrum scam to someone. If they start writing the figure involved in this scam from 7 Racecourse(PM residence), the end digit will touch 10 Janpath(Sonia Gandhi’s residence)
