A vegetarian Gujarati Jain who climbed Everest meets Modi(Video)

In this video, a vegetarian Gujarati NRI Jain Manoj Vora speaks to someone in Gujarat government’s information department over his achievement of climbing seven highest peaks of the world including the Mount Everest. As this is a typical govt manufactured video, it misses potential good discussion on details of climbing experience. Prominent part of the video covers Vora’s narration on his meeting with Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

Chief Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Dr. Manoj Vora, a man of Gujarati origin and a doctor by profession, for scaling the world’s highest peak Mount Everest and making Gujarat proud.

Hailed from Ahmedabad, Dr. Manoj Vora (52) is jain by religion and a vegetarian. Dr. Vora, who scaled Mount Everest on May 22, 2013, called on Mr. Modi with his family today and sought his blessings.

Earlier Dr. Vora has also scaled seven mountain peaks between years 2004 to 2010. In his interaction with Mr. Modi he said that he chanted “Namo” Navkar mantra while climbing Mount Everest. He said that he was quite impressed by the Chief Minister’s commitment for encouraging sports and skill development activities among youths. He also gave a message sent by his parents to Mr. Modi extending him wishes for Gujarat’s development during his regime.

He appreciated Mr. Modi’s creativity as he spontaneously wrote a poem to Maliniben, younger sister of Dr. Vora, when she asked for Mr. Modi’s autograph. Mr. Modi’s creativity and his administrative skills are inspirational for the young generation, he said. He appealed youths to dream big and work hard to actualize their dreams.
