Final figures of Gujarat Census 2011 arrive

Census office, Gandhinagar today presented the final figures of year 2011 census. As per this presentation made by deputy director Shri S.Lingaswamy, the population of Gujarat is 6,04,39,692.
Main highlights:
– On 1st March, 2011 Gujarat population was 6,04,39,692
-Urban population 2.57 crore, rural 3.47 crore
-Gujarat is the tenth most populated state of India
-19.28% growth in population of Gujarat in the last decade(2001-11) which was 97,68,675 in figure
-During 1990-2001 Gujarat had witnessed 22.66% population growth
-Surat was no.1 in growth of population during 2001-11 with 42.24% increase
-57.41% population of Gujarat is rural, while 42.6% is urban
-Ahmedabad is most populated district of Gujarat with or 60.63 lakh population
-The district with highest rural population is Banaskantha
-In 2001, per square km density was 258 which was 308 in 2011
-Highest density in Surat district (1337)
-Lowest density in Kutch district(46)
-Children in 0-6 age group were 7777,262
-3.25% increase in children’s population in Gujarat in last decade. 2.88% growth in boys and 3.67% in girls population.
-919 women per 1000 males. 949 in rural, 880 in urban areas.
-In 2001 there were 919 female per 1000 males. In rural areas, there were 945 females per 1000 males. Now it is 949.
-Tribal Tapi district has ration of 1007 women per 1000 men, tribal Dang district has 1006 women per 1000 men. Surat has only 787 women per 1000 men.
-78.03% literacy in above 7 years age group. Female literacy 69.68%. Male literacy 85.75%. In last decade female literacy growth was 11.9%.
-Surat is the most literate district with 85.53% literacy. Dahod the least with 58.82% literacy.
