Planning Commission approves Rs. 59,000 crore anual plan size for Gujarat (Video)

After a meeting with Planning Commission in Delhi, Gujarat Chief Minister today said that the annual plan size granted by the Planning Commission for year 2013-14 is even higher than the state government conceived originally.
Shri Modi said:Today the state of Gujarat had a meeting with planning commission in connection with its annual plan size. Originally we had conceived Rs 58,500 crore plan size in our budget, but planning commission thinks that Gujarat is more capable and it should progress even more, so they have approved Rs 59,000 crore plan size. Gujarat plays a major role in India’s development in terms of its contribution and GDP. Gujarat government has in its budget made 42% allotment to social sector because Sabka sath sabka vikas has been our motto. We believe that poor, backward, deprived, tribal should be give maximum benefit of development.
Speaking to the media, Shri Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission of India said, “we had very thorough discussion on different aspects. We have agreed on total plan size of about Rs 59,000 crore.”
He further said, “It’s well known that Gujarat is one of our better performing state. We have noticed, economic growth etc has been good in Gujarat.”
He said there was a lot of discussion on the social sector. He said the state government made number of issues on which the central government should act on, like slow decision making, faster actions could remove impediments on development, and the need for more flexibility in central schemes.
Highlights:
15.68% increase in annual plan size this year compared to previous year
10.24% average growth rate during 2002-2012
Per capita income in 2010 Rs 78,802, in 2011 Rs 89,668 which was 13.08% plus.
Agriculture growth rate has been 11.11% higher during 2001 and 2011.
